Pilates is a method of exercise that is beneficial for everyone. Whether you suffer from back, hip or shoulder pain, are recovering from an injury or birthing a baby or you are an elite athlete, dancer, or avid outdoor enthusiast, Pilates can help. The focus of Pilates is to engage and stabilize deep core muscles. The core consists of many different muscles that stabilize the spine, pelvis and shoulder and provides a solid foundation for balanced body movement. Pilates also promotes effective breathing patterns which can alleviate stress that can be the cause of back problems. By increasing the stability of your core, you gain greater freedom of movement so you can continue to do the things you love. Live Well ~ Love Much ~ Laugh Often...it's great for your core
Cathy is certified through the Pacific Movement Center of Santa Cruz, CA and continued her training through the Polestar Pilates Rehabilitation program for health care professionals. Cathy has completed the TheraPilates for Osteoporosis course to enhance her abilities to work with those who have low bone density (osteoporosis). She is a certified Post Rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist through the Pink Ribbon Program. She has completed the STOTT PILATES Intensive Mat-Plus course and has participated in a Pilates for Scoliosis Specialization Program. She is currently enrolled in a Yoga Alliance 200 RYT Balanced Action Yoga teacher training. Cathy continues to enhance her skills by attending training workshops and classes in order to better serve her community. Cathy is the owner of Santa Cruz Mountain Pilates Studio, which is located in Boulder Creek, CA. Private one-on-one sessions are available at the fully equipped studio. Equipment includes the reformer, trapeze table/cadillac, combo chair, spine corrector, and an assortment of props to enhance and assist performance.
